Soldiers Who Critized the War in Iraq Killed

What senseless tragedy. Two very brave young men, Sgt. Yance Gray, 26, and Sgt. Omar Mora,28 who spoke out against what they saw in Iraq and against the U.S. war in Iraq were killed today when allegedly their truck overturned. These two young men wrote a powerful op-ed piece in the New York Times criticizing the war in Iraq. The third author of the article that was published on August 19th, Staff Sgt. Jeremy Murphy, was shot in the head (by whom is the question) while the article was being written. These deaths are troubling and I hope that there was no backlash from the military that cuased the deaths of these young men.

Mary Winkler

The case of Mary Winkler is a sad tale and makes for the perfect example of how patriarchy works and the misogyny and loppressive codes concerning women that exist within patriarchal society. Suffering years of abuse in a bad marriage, this woman snapped and killed her husband, freeing herself. Now, as she fights to regain custody of her children--a man on the Today Show this morning touted the line of the hard-core patriarchal stance very well "she was mentally ill-and it might have been a bad marriage--BUT SHE KILLED THERE FATHER!" as if having a penis made him special. I have the utmost sympathy for this woman and I hope she gets her children back. The rhetoric that I hear from stupid pundits and the news media is a direct shot back to the neuroasthenia bullshit of the 19th Century.
Matt Lauer in Iran...anti-Iran propaganda. The U.S. is readying itself to make conflict with Iran.

Astute Assessment from Anonymous Source

John McCain has been crazy ever since they let him out of the POW Camp.

Morning Connections

Tom Joyner's Little Known Black History Fact this morning was about A.G. Gaston...little known Black history fact: My aunt was his mistress. Interesting play on the today show-they got two prominent Blacks to speak on U.S. foreign policy-Condie-Bitch and Barack Obama. That same aunt used to keep Condie-Bitch when she was a little girl. God Bless Barack Obama. More on A.G. Gaston: he was friends with my great-grandfather when they both worked in the coal mines in Birmingham as adolescents.

Let's Hear It For Me

Barbra-Funny Lady

Blow the bugle
Sound the cymbal
All my troubles fill a thimble
I'm as happy as it's legal to be
Come on kids let's hear it for me
Get the tom tom
Start the drumming
Queue the colours
Keep them humming
Cause I'm climbing of the limb of that tree
Come on kids let's hear it for me
For this overwhelming sensation
I could stand a standing ovation
Give my entrance queue to the band
Give the little lady a great big hand
Slide the trombone
Let it swell out
This performance is a sell out
And the critics and the public agree
I'm the number one attraction to see
So applaud it and cheer it
Come on now let's hear it for me

Standing in the wings
All prepared to start
Usually I'm tense
A pounding in my heart
But now I'm not afraid
Cause butterfly's are gone
My act is looking great
I can't wait to go on, on
Grab a ticket
Find you row kid
I am strictly an SRO kid
Tell these ougly boubly feelings I'm free
They been banished by a royal decree
And your head feels so good when you finally clear it
If I saw a worry I wouldn't go near it
Come on now come on kid lets hear it
Let's hear it for me...

Great Day

Barbra

When you're down and out
Lift up your head and shout
There's gonna be a great day
Angels in the sky
Promise that be by and by
There's gonna be a great day
Gabriel will warn you
Some early morn
You will hear his horn
It's not far away
Lift up your head and say
There's gonna be a great day
Great day

When you're down and out
Lift up your head en shout
There's gonna be a great day
Angels in the sky
Promise that by en by
We're gonna see a great day
Gabriel will warn you
Somebody born
You will hear his horn, his horn
It's not far away
Lift up your head and say
There's gonna be a great day
When the skies went darker, oh Lord!
Came Noah’s Ark, oh Lord!
Amen and Amen!
Amen and Amen!

He came in January, February, March, April, May, June
July, and August, September October, November,
De De December
It was a great day
It was a great day
One of those great days
And on Judgment Day
If you believe he will receive you and me
Gabriel will warn you
Some early morn
You will his horn, his horn
It's not far away
Lift up your head and say
There's gonna be a great
We're gonna see a great
There's gonna be,
Be a great day.

How Lucky Can You Get?

Barbra

Ain't she got fun,
She's the luckiest one

Satin on my shoulder and a smile on my lips
How lucky can you get
Money in my pocket right at my fingertips
How lucky can you get
Every night a party where the fun never ends
You can circle the globe with my circle of friends
Someone I am crazy for is crazy for me
I'm his personal pet
Wow how lucky can you get
See her diamonds are gleam her life is a dream
Wrap it up and charge it that's my is my favourite phrase
How lucky can you get
When I see the chauffeur think I'll give him a raise
How lucky can you get
Weekends in the country with the baron of course
And a wardrobe to shock mrs Asters pet horse
Making merry music with the one that I love
We're a perfect duet
Gee how lucky can you
Wee how lucky can you
Wow how lucky can you get

Ain't she got fun
She's the luck the luck the luck the luck the luck
The luck the luck the luck the luck the luck
The luck

Satin on my shoulder how lucky can you get
Money in my pocket how lucky can you get
Every night's a party where the fun never ends
You can circle the globe with my circle of friends
Someone I am crazy for is crazy for me
I'm his personal pat
Wow how lucky can you get
He there gorgeous!
Big success!
What's your secret gorgeous!
Just lucky I guess

You wanna know what it's really like
FANTASTIC!
Satin on my shoulder and a smile on my lips
Money in my pocket right at my fingertips
Wrap it up and charge it that's my favourite phrase
How lucky
When I see the chauffeur think I'll give him a raise
How lucky
Life's a bed of roses whirling perfume on me
You can spare me the blues I don't sing in that key
And if there's a man who'd leave me I am happy to say
I haven't run into him yet

Gee Wee Wow
How lucky, how lucky can you get!

Le Divorce

I LOVE the film Le Divorce. I saw it on tv ages ago and bought it on DVD and now I watch it often. I so would love to be someone's mistress.-) I want to be Jane Fonda to somebody's Roger Vadim, Elaine Brown to someone's Jay Kennedy.

Juanita Bynum

Tom Joyner has made sure this has hit the airwaves seems like every day for the past few weeks. I feel sorry for the sister and she leaves me puzzled why she doesnt drop that MF like a rotten potato(especially after he kicked her!). This is simply proof that even people of the cloth(like we didn't know) have their problems. Buck up Juanita and drop him!
