I am really concerned about the effect that Hurricane Katrina has had on the Afro-American communities of New Orleans, Biloxi, and other towns.

Yes. I've heard reports about "smaller" communities on the Gulf Coast that have been completely disappeared, and that many of these communities were not properly evacuated. Next question, who lived there, not answered in the news reports I've heard. Haven't found the answer on the internet yet either, but have only made some cursory searches so far.
