"Ever since I came to Congress in 1992," McKinney once said, "there are those who have been trying to silence my voice. I've been told to sit down and shut up over and over again. Well, I won't sit down and I won't shut up until the full and unvarnished truth is placed before the American people."

What was this statement in response to? I've been doing some research on leaders in the Black community that are bold enough to criticize the Bush Administration's policies on Iraq.
Is there more in print about her position on the war in Iraq?
I think that was simply a statement she made to the press on her return to congress...in response to repeated calls by both sides of congress that she back down from critiquing the ways things are run in this country.
