The GOP and the Afro-American Community

Everyone should have heard Tavis Smiley on the Tom Joyner Morning Show this morning. The big question is, why are the major contenders in the GOP race for the GOP presidential nomination snubbing Blacks? None of the major contenders showed up at Tavis Smiley's political event this evening and as Tavis pointed out this morning, Guiliani, Thompson, Romney, and McCain have repeatedly declined invitations from Blacks, Latinos, Gays, and other minority groups to make appearances to speak before their organizations and discuss issues pertinent to their communities. As Tavis said this morning, we need to remember this come election time and we need to call them on it. It's worse than the 2000 elections where they had white people holding signs at the GOP convention that read "Viva Bush."
