One thing I thought about recently was the diversity among Afro-Americans. We all did not originate in the same place, even here in the U.S. and are not homogenous in our experiences(however similar and kindred they may be). Blacks in the Northeast under wasps domination who experienced freedom earlier had different experiences than those in the southeast who lived under white rule--Anglo for the most part, but also German, Irish, French, etc who practiced their brand of slavery. Slavery for those Blacks that lived in territories under French and Spanish rule was different than that of all of the rest as well, even though after the Louisiana Territory became apart of the United States those experiences perhaps became more homogenized. However, slavery in Latin areas was much different than those in Anglo/Protestant areas...that is something to think about. I could elaborate more--there have been books written about this matter of course, but I will stop my musing here for the time being.
